With the announcement that Halo: Spartan Assault will now come to the 360 and Xbox One, a large chunk of the Halo community (including your truly) will now actually be able to own the next game of the expanding saga.
While this is old news, what I found surprising was my lack of excitement over the announcement.
After purposefully not trying to get excited when the game first came out, I now find that I have to work a little harder to get psyched for the release that can actually matter to me.
Oh, it’ll still happen. Show me some trailers, tease what the gameplay has to offer with achievements, and give me some sweet tunes to transport me to another world and I’ll get back on the “can’t wait to play it!” bus.
That said, it’s too bad that the releases for the different platforms had to be staggered this way. In missing a chance for all the fans to enjoy this new chapter in the franchise at the same time, the opportunity for a greater number of shared experiences across the range of Halo fans was lost – and that’s unfortunate.
